About Fung

Fung is a regulated Payment Service Provider (PSP) for Vertical SaaS Platforms. We enable platforms to embed payments into their offering in a seamless manner. We handle the end-to-end payments infrastructure, compliance and risk management on behalf of our merchants. Fung is headquartered in Amsterdam. We have raised capital from some of the best technology investors in the world.

What we are looking for

We always seek curious, intelligent and highly driven individuals to help build the next-generation PSP. We highly prefer in-person interaction to build our team and help each other tackle the challenges we encounter on our day-to-day.

How we work:

  • Ownership: you are empowered to act, take decisions and challenge ideas.

  • Open and transparent: We always keep everyone in the loop about everything going on in the company. Feel free to ask us anything.

  • We're working in a fast-changing industry, so we learn every day.

  • We are risk-takers and believers. Mistakes are how you learn.

  • Focus on getting stuff done, no 9-5 mentality, no meetings without agenda.

Role description:

As a Founder’s Associate to the COO, you will be instrumental in enhancing our operational frameworks and ensuring our continuous compliance with laws and regulations. This role provides an opportunity to deeply engage with the core functions of a regulated PSP, focusing on optimising merchant onboarding, streamlining operations, and developing new processes to accelerate business scalability and regulatory adherence. This is a great opportunity to get to know a startup from different angles and directly work with the founders in their day-to-day business.

You’ll get the best of both worlds: Experience firsthand how an early-stage start-up is being built, and enjoy & benefit from a fast-paced and flexible environment while working closely with experienced experts in their field. That means you will not only support and leverage your skill set but learn & grow by taking on projects with a high degree of ownership.

Responsibilities

  • Process Optimization: Evaluate and improve existing operational processes to increase efficiency and effectiveness. Implement new technologies and methodologies to enhance transaction processing and data management systems. Build dashboard, presentations and analytical reports for internal and external stakeholders.

  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all merchant onboarding processes adhere to the Policies and Procedures. Regularly update and refine compliance protocols to meet changing legal requirements and company standards.

  • Merchant Onboarding: Contribute to the development and execution of a streamlined merchant onboarding framework that minimises time-to-market while maintaining rigorous compliance standards.

  • New Process Development: Design and implement scalable processes to support business growth. Work collaboratively with technology and business teams to ensure that new processes align with both regulatory requirements and business objectives.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with other departments, including Tech, Legal, and Business Development, to ensure a cohesive approach to compliance and operations. Provide compliance insights during product development and strategic planning sessions.

Experience & Skills

  • Currently studying towards your Bachelor or Master in: Law, Business, Analytics or similar programs.

  • You are an entrepreneurial problem solver. You strive to take ownership of the tasks you get and apply your analytical skills, structured thinking, and independent working style towards solving them. You are very organised and have some experience with project management.

  • You have gained hands-on experience in a fast-paced environment. You understand what working in a startup or a similar lean organisation is like. Ideally, you have worked in an early-stage startup, fintech, consulting, tech company or similar.

  • You are ready and willing to take ownership. “This is not my job!” is not part of your vocabulary - you identify problems, take the initiative to take them on, and challenge the status quo.

  • You cope well with frequent change and ambiguity. Changing tasks & requirements excite you. You are able to think logically, break down complex problems and prioritise between multiple tasks on your table.

  • You have a hands-on mentality. You default into action, want to gather first learnings fast and iterate on the progress along the way.

  • You are a team player. Working together as a team and sharing knowledge comes naturally to you.

  • You have no problem with learning new tools and skills on the go. You try to solve problems with more things than the ones you already know. We will always enable you with that, but your willingness has to come first.

  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.

What we offer

  • Internship compensation (EUR 1,200) and the possibility of obtaining a full-time position. You must be enrolled in a university program to be eligible for the Internship.

  • Opportunity to join a fast-growing company in a growing industry, with opportunities for personal development.

  • Experience the vibrant atmosphere of a startup, characterised by an unwavering commitment to progress, problem-solving and company growth as well as personal growth as a valued member of our pioneering team.
